Laser Hair Removal Training For Doctor or Nurse With Medical Background
(Birmingham West Midlands)
I'm a registered nurse interested in your 2 day laser hair removal course. Is it run in Birmingham?
Exactly what qualification would it provide? Would I be qualified to set up my own business with it?
Have you any references for trials which have been performed using laser hair removal?
How much would the laser equipment cost? (I know this is a broad question but I have no idea of the cost).
I see you say it runs every month, is it the same dates each month?
Reply Hi Pam
Thank you for your inquiry. It is great that you are interested in doing our 2 day laser hair removal course. With a nursing background you satisfy the entry requirement to enrol onto this course.
At the end of the course you will receive a BMLA endorsed certificate for uses of ND yag laser. You will also receive a core of knowledge certificate.
With your background you should find this should satisfy the council in the area you wish to practice and insurance companies and enable you to set up your own business. Always check with your insurance company about their specific requirements, as companies frequently update their policies.
If you are looking to set up your own business, although you are a registered nurse I would recommend that you do the full VTCT NVQ Level 4 Certificate in Laser and IPL as this will provide you with far more knowledge in actually carrying out practical treatments. With no experience you may find the BMLA is not enough in a salon environment.
See an outline of what is covered in the full level 4 below:
• The Level 4 Certificate is a vocationally related qualification and is focused on reducing hair growth and photo rejuvenation of the skin using intense light and laser treatments. In this qualification you will develop an understanding of managing safe working practices and how to identify and control hazards. You will also learn how to identify hair and skin conditions and those clients suitable for intense light and laser system treatments. You will be assessed on your occupational competence.
For references of trials you would need to obtain these from the manufacturer of the machine you wish to purchase, as we only provide training for the courses. You can view actual student testimonials of our course on our website.
What laser machine will you choose from? There are hundreds of supplier - Some lasers cost £65,000 whereas some really good ones are at £38,000. Of course you can go for cheap lasers/ipl at £5,000 but your clients won’t get the results.
So to summarise Laser machines cost from 5K to 70K plus. Purchasing a machine all depends on what type of clientele you will have and what results you wish to obtain form your machine.
Both courses run in our Birmingham training center. The BMLA is the first two classes of our 8 week full level 4 course, so it would come around approximately every 8 weeks.
This course runs on a Sunday, so for the BMLA you would only need to attend for two Sundays.
I hope this information helps and has answered all of your questions, if you would like to discuss this further please contact Kam on 020 8561 5044.
